Flights
We recommend that you travel to John Wayne / Orange County Airport (airport code SNA) which serves Orange County. The airport provides quick service and is located very close to campus so that you could be at the WISE hotel
within 20 minutes of disembarking from your flight. It is also a convenient departure point for travel to Las Vegas (ICIS) with a number of cheap non-stop flights to Las Vegas (Check SouthWest Airlines). It is also served by all major US airlines.
The second option is Los Angeles International Airport (airport code LAX). However, please keep in mind
that it takes 45 minutes during off-peak hours to travel from UC Irvine to LAX. Travel times are harder to predict during rush hour
but you should budget at least 90 minutes.
A third option that may work for some travelers is the Long Beach Airport.
It is closer than LAX but further away than John Wayne. Jet Blue flies to the Long Beach airport providing
cheap non-stop flights from the East Coast (New York, Washington DC and Boston).
Connecting to ICIS, Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a 4 hour drive from Irvine. You are likely to be in reverse traffic if you drive on Sunday afternoon.
SouthWest Airlines offers several non-stop low-fare flights from John Wayne / Orange County Airport (SNA) to Las Vegas (LAS). Please check southwest.com for fares. America West also offers non-stop fares from Orange County to Las Vegas.
